You need Jesus

“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”

Matthew 5:18 NASBS

Dear reader, it is true, as the scriptures tell us that without Jesus Christ, you are without hope, having been separated from God from the time of your birth. You see, you were born into sin and iniquity and are a child of wrath by nature. You are under the indignation of a holy, just God, Whose sword is unsheathed and will one day drip with your blood. When you first glance at this statement, you may say to yourself, “Well that seems somewhat harsh. I have done nothing that is worthy of eternal hell. I am a good parent; I attend to the affairs of this world. Furthermore, I get up and go to church Sunday mornings. Likewise, I respect all people. Not only that, I am a law abiding citizen and I follow my conscience, always seeking to do what is right.”

Now my friend, if I examine you according to the standard of this world, you may be absolutely correct. In the eyes of the public, you may be the pinnacle of success, the parent of the year, and a person who has a moral perspective on life that everyone aspires to. But if I must be completely honest with you, I am not concerned about how you think you live your life in this world or what people might think about you. However, my question to you is, “Have you ever broken God’s holy commandments in your thought life?” In other words, have you ever been so angry with someone that for just a moment, you hated them and thought ill of them in your heart? Or, have you ever conceived a lie in your heart and carried it out in deceitfulness, knowing that no one would ever find out but you? Shall I even touch a more sensitive nerve? Have you ever looked upon your neighbor’s spouse or perhaps watched someone on television and allowed lust to rage in your heart? Have you ever delighted in or been entertained by anything that God would not approve of or anything that you wouldn’t do if Jesus were with you in the flesh? Please bear with me for just a minute longer, for I must push the sword of truth a little deeper. Have you ever done anything that you were ashamed of or something that you would never want your children to do or see because it would remove their innocence and open up their minds to a world of corruption?

Reader, if you search every crevice of your heart, examining it under the microscope of God’s perfect Law, you will find, regardless of who you are that you are the chief of sinners that you are fully deserving of God’s wrath, and that you are in desperate need of a savior. Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” You see, “The Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore, the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.” Today, if you do not truly know Jesus Christ, may the moral Law of God’s perfect word search your heart and cut you deeply. May it bring you to the fountain of living water, Jesus Christ, so that you might be saved.
