Williams v. Hagg
The Enterprise sent a list of questions about local issues to candidates for the 25th Congressional District - incumbent Republican Roger Williams and Independent Chad Hagg. Mr. Hagg submitted the following answers. Mr. Williams submitted a statement.
The Enterprise: Olney needs additional funding for its aging water treatment plant and hospital, and we are subject to many unfunded federal mandates. What would you do to help us, if elected?
Chad Hagg: If elected, I would work with the city of Olney to secure the needed federal grants to assist the hard-working tax payers of Olney. There are multiple programs at the federal level that could assist with the high cost of constructing the infrastructure needs of rural communities, continuing vital hospital services and security issues of all Texas citizens. I would advocate to the directors of the programs listed below, and work to secure the needed funding to help the people of the 25th District.
-The federal community development block grant program is a promising avenue to help with the water treatment plant.
-The small rural hospital improvement grant program is tailored to assist small communities with upgrades for providing vital medical services for rural Americans.
The Enterprise: Some local businesses rely on immigrant workers and could be hurt by their removal from the country. How should federal immigration policy balance rural businesses’ need for workers and security?
Mr. Hagg: I fully support immigration in to our country, as we are a country of immigrants. As with anything, there is a right and wrong way to do something. Our borders have been left wide open, which has allowed a massive influx of people into our country. We need to “vet” the people coming in so we do not increase the number of criminals inside of our borders. I think that the laws on the books need to be enforced, at the same time we need to streamline the path to citizenship. We can do these tasks at the same time and afford legal immigrants an easier path to citizenship who want a chance at the dream that all Americans enjoy.

It’s an honor to represent Texas’ 25th Congressional District and I look forward to continuing to work with all the great people of this district in 2025 and beyond. This is the most important election of our lifetimes. All around the world, and right here at home, you see a world in crisis. Under Border Czar Kamala Harris, we have consistently seen record high illegal border crossings, record high inflation and an economy that is sputtering. Under our Republican House of Representatives, we have passed HR 2, the most consequential border security bill in our nation’s history, we have voted to cut spending levels, pulled back wasted and fraudulent COVID spending, lowered tax burdens on Main Street America and job creators, and put forward the support that is needed to our most important ally, Israel, as they battle terrorist who are attempting to destroy them. Harris and Biden have blocked it.
I am proud to have a lifetime American Conservative Union (CPAC) rating of over 90% and honored to once again be endorsed by President Donald Trump. I am one of the few people in Congress who still own and operate a business. I must live with the impacts of what happens in Congress and the debilitating regulations handed down by the Harris - Biden Administration. I’m proud to be your Chairman of the House Small Business Committee where I have set a conservative, principled driven agenda. Our committee works to reduce big government regulations, and we work to hold this administration accountable for targeting American businesses and wasting taxpayer resources.
Under Harris and Biden, our American economy has become woke and broke. We need an American Economy that is booming, we need to make the Trump tax cuts permanent, we need to get rid of Kamala Harris’ woke, job killing regulations, we need to secure our borders and reclaim our national sovereignty, we need to be energy independent, we need to restore law and order, we need a military focused on winning battles and not woke recruiting, we need a president that ends wars and not drag us into endless wars.
It is time to make America Great Again! We must stick together, fight like hell and put President Trump back in the White House!
