Variety Show Benefits Cub Center
Residents packed the Olney High School auditorium on Saturday for the First Annual Summer Variety Show, a heartwarming display of local talent that raised $1,700 to support the Olney Senior Cub Center’s feeding programs for area seniors.
The variety show featured 17 acts, all drawn from local and area talent, including music, song, and instrumental performances. The event kicked off with a delightful performance by a group of children who sang to a cheering crowd, setting a fun and joyful vibe for the evening.
Throughout the show, pianist Judy Underwood provided accompaniment for several acts, helping keep the rhythm and energy flowing.
The fundraiser was more than just entertain-ment— it was a lifeline.
The Cub Center, which provides both home-delivered and congregate meals to Olney- area seniors, is facing the possibility of steep federal and state funding cuts to the Meals on Wheels program.
The proceeds from the variety show will go directly toward maintaining and expanding the Center’s Meals on Wheels and congregant dining programs, which have seen a steady increase in demand, director Angela Lockard said.
