Unopposed Council Members Sworn In
Three unopposed candidates—Steve Nurre, Thea Sullivan, and Chuck Stennett—were officially sworn in as members of the Olney City Council at the Council’s June 9 meeting.
City Secretary Tammy Hourigan read a formal certification of the May 3 general election, which was canceled due to all candidates running unopposed. Ms. Hourigan certified the canvass of votes, and the Council unanimously approved the certification of the election results.
City Attorney Bill Myers administered the oath as Mr. Nurre, Mrs. Sullivan, and Mr. Stennett, who were all re-elected to new terms, stood together at the front of the council chamber.
Mayor Rue Rogers congratulated the trio and thanked them for stepping up to serve. “Congratulations, and thank you for your willingness to serve the City of Olney,” he said.
