Teen leads high-speed chase through Olney

A Wichita Falls teenager was arrested last week on drug possession and evading arrest charges after leading a Young County deputy on a high-speed chase through Olney in a white Mercedes sedan, the sheriff ’s office said.

The deputy saw 17-year-old Samantha Fowler commit a traffic violation at the intersection of State Highways 79 and 114 at around 11 p.m. on Nov. 29, and activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle, the sheriff said.

“The vehicle turned off its headlights and accelerated to speeds over 130 mph. The deputy pursued the vehicle north on State Highway 79 for approximately five miles,” the sheriff said in a statement.

The vehicle then drove off the road, into and out of a bar ditch, and stopped in a field, the statement said. The deputy took Ms. Fowler into custody, and discovered THC cartridges and marijuana on her person and in the vehicle, the sheriff said.

She was charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana, the sheriff said. She was being held in Young County Jail in lieu of $24,000 bond.
