Stewart’s Marks 50th Year With In-Store Event on Nov. 1

Olney’s hometown grocery store, Stewart’s, is marking a golden milestone this Saturday, Nov. 1, with a full day of celebration, giveaways, and oneday- only specials for customers who have kept the store thriving for half a century.

“It’s gonna be a blast,” said store manager Jason Pack, who has helped organize the 50th anniversary festivities. “We’ve been able to lock in some great sales and bring in giveaways from our vendors. It’s our way of saying thank you to the community that’s supported us all these years.”

One-day specials Shoppers can expect deep discounts throughout the store, including exclusive instore specials that won’t be advertised ahead of time. Classic Stewart’s reusable bags will be handed out to the first 500 customers, while special red and green commemorative T-shirts will be on sale to mark the anniversary.

Soda lovers will find 2-liter bottles of RC, 7Up Zero, Canada Dry, and other varieties on sale at two for $5 — including a rare discount on Sunkist Zero Sugar.

Raffles, prizes, and vendor giveaways

The store will also be buzzing with raffles and prize drawings, beginning around 3 p.m. Customers can enter to win a 32-inch smart TV, a Savage 208 rifle (winners must be 18 or older and pass FFL licensing), electric coolers from Coca-Cola, and a motorcycle helmet donated by Monster Energy.

Vendors have contributed plenty of smaller giveaways too, including Daisy Sour Cream water bottles, foam shopping carts, sunglasses, pens, and coupons; as well as Coca-Cola koozies, bottle openers, and other trinkets available at the registers.

Food and fellowship

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Stewart’s staff will be grilling and serving hotdogs to customers outside, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Inside, a slideshow created by longtime Olney resident Dale Lovett will play on a big screen, capturing highlights and memories from the store’s 50 years of service to the community.

A community milestone

For Pack and the Stewart’s team, the day is more than just a celebration of the store’s history — it’s a chance to thank Olney for generations of loyalty.

“We’re really proud of the fact that we’ve been here for 50 years,” Pack said. “This store has always been about family, community, and service. Saturday is about celebrating that with the people who made it possible.”

The celebration kicks off when the doors open Saturday morning and will run all day.
