Sr. Cub Center’s Souper bowl fundraiser, Feb. 2
The Senior Cub Center’s annual Souper Bowl Stew Lunch Fundraiser will be this upcoming Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Senior Cub Center located at 302 S. Avenue B, down the street from Griffin Park in Olney.
The piping hot stew will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. You may dine in or carry out. Either way, you will make it home in time for the Superbowl game (Chiefs and 49ers).
The tickets cost $8 and are sold in advance or you may purchase tickets at the door on Feb. 2. The staff welcomes everyone, including individuals, families and church groups.
The stew lunch includes homemade stew with fresh vegetables, cornbread and a dessert, which may be your choice of peach cobbler or chocolate pie.
All proceeds benefit the programs at the Olney Senior Cub Center, which has been supporting the senior citizens of Olney since 1982, when the center was incorporated as a senior center. The organization is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
“We want to reach those who are less fortunate. We used to serve 65 meals a day, and we are currently serving 20 to 25 meals at the center and approximately 65 home deliveries. On our home delivery plan, we partner with the Texas Department of aging who covers a larger portion of the cost of the meal,” Corbin said. “Approximately 40 of the home-delivered meals are free, and the Texas Department of Aging determines eligibility and reimburses the center. We need and appreciate your support of this important fundraiser.”
