Sixth Annual Turkey Trot Raises Spirits, Funds for The Refuge

The Sixth Annual Turkey Trot was a complete success this year due to the hard work of many volunteers, The Refuge, Olney Police Department, donors to the raffle, and participants.

The Refuge is a Christian based community center in Ol- ney that offers after Bible- centered after school programs, summer camps, fitness programs, and a summer feeding program for kids, as well as many other family oriented activities.

The Refuge’s co-directors, Rodney and Kristy Nantz, organized the Turkey Trot as a run-walk race for all ages through the streets of Olney.

The event starts with a word and prayer from Rodney Nantz, a chicken dance to warm up, some prizes handed including for best Turkey costume and then the race is run.

Donors to this year’s raffle included ACE Hardware, Archer & Gunn Mercantile, Riverbend Nature Center, Olney Floral & Designs, Crumbl cookies, Moreno’s Farm, Calvary Cones Express, Natalie Whitlock Hill, Erin Mahler Designs, and Here’s Your Sign.
