Darrell Goldsmith—the owner of Goldsmith Supply Company, also known as NAPA Auto Parts— was born and raised in Olney. His 66-year history in this town is a testament to the sustainability of local businesses.

Growing up in Olney gave Mr. Goldsmith a front-row seat to entrepreneurship. His parents, Johnny and Joyce Goldsmith—who presently reside in Olney—owned Johnny’s Paint and Body Shop for years.

“My father’s body shop was next door to the NAPA store. I went into partnership with my parents doing paint and bodywork on cars. When the NAPA store was up for sale, I saw a good opportunity to get out of the family business. So, I purchased the NAPA store in 2001,” Goldsmith said.

What has kept Goldsmith’s business viable for more than 20 years? After conversing with Mr. Goldsmith, the short answer would be his industry knowledge, coupled with his commitment to the community.

Goldsmith says one of the best things about his hometown of Olney is the people. “We have outstanding people here,” he said.

When you walk into his store to purchase a part, he can tell you what you need to know to make an informed decision.

“If you need a part that we don’t have in stock, I can order the part and have it shipped overnight,” he said. “We also carry basic parts for foreign cars, and we can order foreign parts, too.”

In addition to providing various auto parts, Goldsmith Supply/NAPA carries small engine lawn mower parts. With that said, there is no need to purchase lawn mower parts outside of Olney. Everything you need is right at your fingertips.

“One service we offer is the building of hydraulic hoses that are used in most tractors and plows. Tower Extrusion has lots of hydraulic parts and heavy hydraulic hoses that break a lot. When the hoses break, come to us for a new one,” Goldsmith said.
