U.S. Rep. Roger Williams

Roger Williams, Republican (I)

Roger Williams, the longtime Republican incumbent in Texas’ 25th Congressional District, is leaning hard on a résumé built around business, sports, and state government.

Raised in the Fort Worth area, Rep. Williams played baseball at Texas Christian University and later spent time in the Atlanta Braves’ farm system before shifting into business and coaching.

Rep. Williams has run a family-owned car dealership and a calf-cow operation for decades, experience he argues gives him a “Main Street” perspective on taxes, regulation and economic growth.

In Washington, he serves as chairman of the House Small Business Committee and sits on the House Financial Services Committee.

He also brings a state-level pedigree: Gov. Rick Perry appointed him Texas secretary of state in 2005, where he also served as the state’s chief liaison for border and Mexican affairs.

On policy, his public- facing issue priorities include immigration and border security, the economy and taxes, Second Amendment rights, energy independence, prolife positions, and health care.
