Register to Vote By Feb. 2 For State, City Elections
The last day to register to vote in Young County is Monday, Feb. 2, kicking off a stretch that will see three elections in less than 90 days.
The Texas primary election will be held Tuesday, March 3, with early voting running from Tuesday, Feb. 17 — the first business day after Presidents’ Day — through Friday, Feb. 27 at the Olney Civic Center. The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is Feb. 20.
Voters will return to the polls Saturday, May 2, for a municipal election to choose members of the Olney Independent School District Board of Trustees, the Olney City Council, and the Olney Hamilton Hospital Board of Directors.
Any necessary primary runoff election will be held Tuesday, May 26. The general election follows on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Under Texas law, voters casting ballots in person must present an approved photo ID, such as a Texas driver’s license, election identification certificate, or U.S. passport.
Voters without photo ID may cast a provisional ballot or complete a reasonable impediment declaration with supporting documentation.
Election officials urge voters to verify ID requirements before heading to the polls.
