The Refuge’s Wholly Fitness Quarantine Program Ends

The Refuge held a celebration on Friday June 26, to celebrate the end to the Wholly Fitness Quarantine Competition. Wholly Fitness program creator and director, Kristi McQueen said, “Wholly Fitness is a faithbased fitness program located at The Refuge in Olney, Texas. The goal of the program is to combine exercise and faith to help individuals grow and reach their goals in health and spiritual wellness. It is meant to create a community environment where individuals can encourage and motivate others as well as become a part of daily living.”

The winners of the competition were Kalena and Vince Smith of Olney, Texas. Kalena stated, “After focusing solely on our spiritual health we both decided to address our physical health. We had no idea how much physical health also affects both spiritual and mental wellness. ‘Whether therefore ye eat, or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.’” -(1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV)

Celebrating the completion of the summer workout program, the group gathered at The Refuge and enjoyed energy teas donated by Cub Nutrition and Energy. Each participant in the competition received a t-shirt. One of the goals of Wholly Fitness was to provide a platform for individuals to strengthen their inner spirit while simultaneously working out their outer body. After prayer and a pre-workout devotion, the body was put through the paces with a physical workout.

Kristi McQueen said, “the goal was to improve overall health while adding a spiritual element to it by drawing closer to Jesus Christ and to encourage one another to get a little healthier. For some that is losing a little weight, and for others it could mean growing stronger in their spirit.”
