Rebuilding Lives at H.O.M.E.

The House of Mercy is a 501(C)3 faith-based nonprofit organization founded by Preston Crow and Bill Wadley. Today, Preston, his wife Trena, and Justin Piegat are there doing God’s will.

It is a Christ-centered ministry with a mission to TEACH the Gospel, STRENGTHEN the community, REBUILD the family, and SUPPORT the local churches. H.O.M.E. is here for anyone who needs a safe place to rebuild their life in a Christ-centered way. They welcome individuals and families that are willing to change their lives and provide them with a clean and secure environment; this allows people to rebuild their lives in a loving, Christ-centered, atmosphere.

“For I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in” – Matthew 25:35 (NKJV)

The House of Mercy inspires residents to turn their lives around. The main goal is to ensure that when an individual walks out the doors they will depend on Christ for every aspect of their life. Their program can take over a year to complete. The first levels of the program are spent mostly in the classroom and progress into a day filled with work and classes. They start their day at 6 a.m. with breakfast and then devotion at 7 a.m. Morning devotion helps to start everyone’s day off focused on God. After chores are done there is another class at 9 a.m. called Foundations of Faith. At 11 a.m. is the Life Skills Character Builder class and lunch at 1 pm. Upper levels go out to a job in the morning hours and every level attends the 2 p.m. Christian Human Development class taught by Preston Crow. There are volunteer Bible classes and studies before supper time at 6 pm.

Lori and Chris Taylor are residents there. “My husband and I can witness to the lives that have been changed. We have seen people come through the doors at H.O.M.E. broken, lost, and afraid. We have seen many people change their entire attitude. Those who were once complainers and gripers are now eager to serve with a smile on their face. We have seen those that once dreaded classes now the first ones in the classroom, even before the teachers and excited to hear God’s word. We have seen people get their children back and reconnect with their families. We get to witness God’s amazing work everyday at the House of Mercy. Lives ARE surely being changed there,” said Lori.

“And to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ.” – Ephesians 3:9 (NKJV)
