Pride of Olney Banquet

Saturday, May 4, the Pride of Olney (Olney High School band) had their annual banquet to celebrate the year’s achievements and look toward things to come next year.

Rodney Bennett, director of the Pride of Olney, said this has been an extraordinary year with incredible high school band and children who have worked hard this year.

Mr. Bennett acknowledged next year is a non-state year but will finish off the year and start the next year off the right way.

Rebecca Esparza said she is very proud of Arianna, her daughter who will be the Pride of Olney drum major next year. Esparza said the Bennetts inspired her and helped guide her into the role and that Arianna loves the role as drum major and does very well at it.

This year the Pride of Olney won its eighth consecutive sweepstakes. The UIL Sweepstakes is designed to reward excellence in the three most measurable aspects of public-school band curriculum – marching, prepare concert performance and ability to sight read music on the spot, among many other achievements.
