Precious Blood
I am so grateful that in the fullness of time, God bestowed grace upon me and called me into His family. I did not choose Him, but He chose me with an effectual calling that I could not deny. His words became a mirror that reflected the inward corruption of sin that was in my heart. In the act of love, He pierced me with His law by shining a light on the poison of hate, lust, and other vices that were in me.
But the story didn’t end there; He took me to Calvary where I saw the remedy and balm for my corrupt heart hanging on the cross, bearing away my sins. The Lord supernaturally opened my eyes and showed me the bleeding wounds of His son, Jesus Christ, dying in my place. Now, with joy in my heart I sing, “Precious, precious blood of Jesus, Let it make thee whole; Let it flow in mighty cleansing O’er thy soul. Though thy sins are red like crimson, Deep in scarlet glow, Jesus’ precious blood shall wash thee White as snow.”
Those who have not come to know Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior will never understand this, for “the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them.”
They see it as a mere formality of religious beliefs that have captivated my mind for a period, and have led me to become a religious zealot who wants to indoctrinate the world with the things that I believe. But on the contrary, that is not true. My soul purpose is to glorify Jesus, my Savior and King, by speaking of the experience of my salvation, which corresponds perfectly with the Holy Bible, which is the word of God.
The scriptures tell us concerning this, “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved.)
Peter tells us, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
In this truth, my friends, I wholeheartedly hang my life, and this is where I find peace and hope. Though I comprehend the situation of those who reject the biblical basis of salvation, for there was a time when I too walked in those shoes. You see, my actions were motivated by my own desires without any acknowledgement of a creator. The purpose of my existence was to fulfill every pleasure that came to my heart without any limitations. To put it simply, my heart was filled with lies and darkened to truth. I searched for meaning in my own existence, just to keep finding out that sin was ruling the domain of my life. Oh, how miserable I was. Thanks be to God to Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Reader, have you rejected Christ? If so, then while the breath of air is still in your lungs I will pray for you. I will beseech the God of Israel to do the same thing for you that He did for me many years ago. That is to open your eyes so that you might see. I beg you to Come all and gaze upon the crucified hanging upon the tree covered in the spittle of His own creation. Observe the torn flesh from the task master’s lash and see the crimson blood flow down His bruised body. Hear the anguish of His cries as He bears the sins of the world. Again I say, Harken your ears and hear His cries for your soul as He is slowly drowning in His own blood, saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”
Can you deny such love? If so, when death comes for you, the echoes of small devotions such as this will be a testimony against you when you stand before this Holy God, Who will not wink at your sin. May the Lord draw you to Himself today.
