Police search for Iowa Park man in HVAC scam
Wichita Falls Police have issued an arrest warrant for 39-year-old John Dewayne Hennan of Iowa Park who allegedly took money from several victims in the Texoma region to install air conditioners and never did the work.
The WFPD said Mr. Hennan is wanted on charges of theft of between $2,500-$30,000, and false pretenses/swindle/ confidence game charges. He has been arrested twice in the past six months on similar charges, police said.
According to police affidavits, Mr. Hennan was arrested on April 20 after a victim in Wichita Falls called police to report that Mr. Hennan, who operated Hennan Heat and Air, had taken $3,000 to install an air conditioning unit in November of 2023 but had not done any of the work. Mr. Hennan stopped communicating with the victim three months earlier, the affidavit said.
When contacted by police, Mr. Hennan asked for additional time to pay back the victim but did not do so, police said.
He was arrested again on June 24 in Archer County for allegedly taking $14,850.00 to do HVAC work at a commercial property in Wichita Falls. The property owner gave the funds to Mr. Hennan as a down payment in February, but the work never started, the police affidavit said. The victim also stated that Mr. Hennan stopped returning his calls or contacting him, the affidavit said.
Mr. Hennan was found to have committed the offense of theft over $2,500 but under $14,850, police said.
Wichita Falls police warned the public to be aware of these and other types of scams, and thanked the public for help and support.
