Only One Door

Only One Door

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.” John 10:1 NASBS

In this passage, Jesus speaks of a sheepfold with a single entrance. Anyone who attempts to enter by another way reveals himself to be a thief and a robber. The meaning is clear: there is only one doorway into the Kingdom of God, and that doorway is Jesus Christ. This is the narrow gate, and Scripture tells us that few find it and follow.

Jesus Christ is the Great Shepherd who leads His sheep to true pasture. Those who have the Spirit of God are guided into all truth. Concerning this, the apostle Paul wrote: “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” This is the miracle of regeneration— God Himself moving upon the dead heart and bringing it to life.

Jesus Himself declares: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” The Shepherd not only calls His sheep; He also protects them from the wolves. His sheep know His voice—not because they are wiser or stronger, but because they belong to Him. When He calls, they listen and follow. Those whom the Father has given to the Son will never be lost, but will be raised up on the last day.

Through the work of the Holy Spirit, believers see Christ not merely with physical eyes, but with spiritual understanding. They behold the marks of His sacrifice and live in readiness for His return, like wise servants who keep their lamps trimmed and burning. The darkness that once veiled their minds has been driven away by divine light, for God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

Those who belong to Christ possess an inner desire to grow in the knowledge of God and to labor diligently in His Word. As the apostle Paul writes, “I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man.” They long to be prepared to speak of His grace, standing firm whether the season is favorable or not. Their faith rests not in feelings or traditions, but in Jesus Christ Himself, as He is revealed through the Word of God.

Yet history and experience testify that many false shepherds have arisen. They twist God’s Word to suit their own purposes, replacing spiritual power with human reasoning and man-made traditions. Such teaching carries no life and leads only to ruin. For this reason, believers must remain alert and grounded—guarding themselves from deception and striving to stand firm in the truth.

True faith calls for diligence and perseverance. The Kingdom of Heaven is not entered casually or carelessly. It requires earnest devotion, a turning away from self, and a new heart. The old nature must be confronted and put to death, and this often involves struggle and hardship. As a soldier endures difficulty in battle, so the believer must endure in faith, trusting that God completes the work He begins.

The transformation God requires is not accomplished through outward ceremony, but through an inward change—a circumcision of the heart. Scripture is clear: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” Those who attempt to enter God’s Kingdom by another way reject His appointed door. Such rejection carries eternal consequence, for God will judge all who persist in rebellion and refuse the mercy found only in Jesus Christ—who was delivered over for our sins and raised for our justification.

The God of Heaven is righteous in all His ways. Entrance into His Kingdom does not come through religion, human wisdom, science, or human reason. It comes through Jesus Christ alone—the One who shed His blood on the cross, bore suffering in His body, and endured the judgment our sin deserved. He is no mere teacher or prophet, but the eternal God, without beginning or end, who will one day return to redeem all whom He has called to salvation.

The road that leads to destruction is wide, and many follow it. But today, if you hear the voice of the Lord, do not harden your heart. Turn to Jesus Christ, and you will find grace. For Scripture teaches that where sin increased, grace abounded all the more—so that just as sin reigned in death, grace might reign through righteousness, leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord In humility, cast yourself at His feet, acknowledging the sinfulness of your own heart. With a broken and contrite heart, confess your sins before Him, for He is faithful and just to forgive. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, asking Him to reveal even the darkest places within you. For it is written that the pure in heart will see God. Take refuge beneath the crimson blood of Christ, which alone is able to cleanse the sinner and make the heart white as snow.
