Ondricek pleads guilty to family abuse charges

An Olney man pleaded guilty to committing continuous family violence and violating his bond conditions and received a suspended sentence of 10 years in the state penitentiary, District Attorney Dee Peavy said.

Stanley Kirk Ondricek, 42, will instead serve 10 years of community supervision, on the conditions that he continues have no contact with his victim, attends mental health and anger management counseling, and pay court costs and a fine of $5,000, Ms. Peavy said.

Mr. Ondricek received the option of a suspended sentence despite the serious nature of the charges against him because he had no previous criminal history, she said.

Mr. Ondricek was violent toward his girlfriend over a period of time and the series of attacks that led to an arrest and stayaway order, Ms. Peavy said.

The bond condition violation charge stems from an incident last year in which a passerby reported to police that Mr. Ondricek appeared to be attempting to run over the victim with his truck near his business offices, Ondricek & Son Trucking, near State Highway 79 and Dunn Road, Ms. Peavy said.

“With a third-degree felony, the most you can get [sentenced to] is ten years,” she said. “We gave him the maximum sentence. If he violates his probation he goes to prison for 10 years. He pled guilty … and has those two convictions no matter what.”

Mr. Ondricek’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
