Olney woman pleads guilty in intoxication manslaughter

An Olney woman pleaded guilty to intoxicated driving that killed her passenger, Codey Jonathon Henderson of Olney, and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Johhana Sharon Delira, 20, pleaded guilty on Sept. 24 to a single count of intoxication manslaughter by motor vehicle in Young County District Court in the death of Mr. Henderson, 19 who was living in Wichita Falls, law enforcement officials said.

Ms. Delira will spend eight years confined in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division, pay a fine of $1,500 and receive 125 days of credit for the time she has spent in jail since her arrest in February.

Mr. Henderson died at the scene of the early morning auto accident on State Highway 16 on Sept. 1, 2023, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. Ms. Delira was seriously injured in the two-vehicle crash and airlifted to a Fort Worth Hospital, police said. Neither was wearing a seatbelt, police said The accident occurred at 6:08 a.m. about 9.5 miles south of Loving when Delira, driving a 2007 Ford Mustang northbound on SH-16, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit head on a 2004 Freightliner CL1 towing a 2015 Manac Belly Dump trailer, the indictment said. The truck driver, 48-year-old Brian Ledel Corbett of Graham, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, police said.

A Young County grand jury indicted Ms. Delira on Feb. 16 for intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle.

Ms. Delira was arrested Feb. 9 and booked into the Young County Jail on a bond of $25,000 on charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and terroristic threat.

Mr. Henderson was a lifelong resident of Olney and was self-employed in the car detailing business, according to his obituary. He is survived by his young daughter, Maryana Doneice Henderson of Wichita Falls, two sisters, Zoey Pesch and Cerena Pesch, his mother Stasha Henderson and his grandmother Judy Hanes of Olney, the obituary said.
