Olney Volunteer Fire Department Benefit

On Saturday, June 29, the Olney Volunteer Fire Department (OVFD) will host a benefit fundraiser event “A Night of Dinner and Dancing” featuring a catered meal by the Branding Iron and live music by 380 West Band. The event will take place at the HDH Pavilion in Olney, and the doors will open at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by dancing from 7:30-11 p.m.

This event will benefit Fire Chief Ron Keeter—who has been the OVFD fire chief since 2007—and Fire Daughter Misti Ickert Ondricek—who is the daughter and sister of OVFD firefighters Donald Ickert and Matthew Ickert.

Both Keeter and Ondricek were diagnosed with cancer, and both are undergoing chemotherapy in Wichita Falls.

According to OVFD, Keeter started having back pain a year ago. The doctors initially believed back and spinal problems caused the pain, but in May 2019, the doctors diagnosed him with pancreatic and liver cancer. Also, in April 2019, Misti began having stomach pains that continued to get worse. She was diagnosed with Gastro cancer.

To help these families, OVFD is seeking donations to help cover the event costs. The OVFD relies on the generosity of donors, and they hope you will consider donating to this cause. The deadline for donations is Monday, June 24.
