Wow, last week was a week of anomalies. Fifty-degree weather led the list after a sweltering 100-degree trend the week before. And all those inches of rain that pelted down for three days was quite the surprise, but much appreciated! Ahh, sitting in the car during a downpour, watching the rain give a good scrubbing to the bug juice accumulated on the windshield, is always a soothing, peaceful feeling-- it’s like a spa day for both me and my vehicle!

Last Thursday was MAY BIRTHDAY DAY at the Center. As J.R. tickled the ivories, we sang our various on-key, off-key renditions of the traditional song and then got to eat a piece of the cake with a scoop of ice cream with our lunch. You can’t beat a deal like that! Jerri Ford, Clifton Richardson, and Ellen Hardin smiled for Will’s camera as he documented their celebration day. Happy birthday to that trio!

Wednesday was “Bingo Day!” Folks who are big winners one week may turn up empty-handed the next. That’s the nature of the game; and players acknowledge that fact and give one another moral support on “off ” days. Clapping, whistling, laughing, and kidding around can sometimes be a bit loud, but that, too, is part of the fun! If you hanker for some laughter and fun, show up by 10:30 Wednesday morning. Part of the fun is chasing down escaping numbers!

Did you notice? The dew on the grass shimmered like a million diamonds as the sun’s rays kissed those droplets perched on each blade of grass—A dazzling sight, indeed! What a way to start a Friday!

Memorial Day is for honoring those who gave up their lives, the ultimate price, in service to our country. It is important never to forget that! Some may think of it as another holiday away from work or a fun holiday at the lake, but it should be treated as an important day to “remember” and pay tribute to those heroes who lost their lives!

School is out. Children are out and about. Children don’t always look before crossing the street. Drivers, please remember to be careful, especially in residential areas.

What begins with an ‘s’ and ends with an ‘s,’ and can often change one’s life? It can be remembered for a lifetime. It is inexpensive to give yet priceless to receive. SMILES!! Keep on smiling- make someone’s day!
