Olney Robotics breaks record
Olney Robotics traveled to Grapevine Saturday, Jan. 25, to compete at the FiT-North A&G Tournament. Olney placed 32nd out of 33 teams while still breaking the team scoring record.
“The team overall had a great attitude knowing that we were coming into the tournament near the end of the rankings and that can be frustrating but I think the team was excited to crush our personal goals of reaching an overall high score and scoring during each match,“ Coach Sabrina Laurent said.
Ryan Conder scored 26 points, Caleb Johnson scored 26 points, Jaxx Laurent scored 30 points, Tucker Cortinez scored 14 points and Colby Johnson scored 33 points. Ben Baran participated but did not drive the robot.
“They (the team) were less stressed which made the meet more enjoyable, although making those last minute repairs always sparks new learning and sometimes you need that anxiety to push you a little bit more than you would if you were too comfortable,” Laurent said. “Everyone was in good spirits and excited to start on new ideas for next year.
