Olney Powerlifting scores at Vernon meet
On Jan. 23, the Olney Cubs went to Vernon, to participate in their first Powerlifting meet of the year. The Cubs only had one returning competitor this year, Ricco Sandoval.
“The meet went great,” Powerlifting Coach Casey Keeter said. “For the first meet of the year and only one returning boy competitor I was very pleased with the outcome of the meet. The team has set the bar very high and expect alot from themselves this year.”
The competition included Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift.
Maddox Johnson placed second in the 123 class, David Carson placed second in the 132 class, Shaine Grard placed fourth in the 132 class, Daniel Dixon placed eighth in the 165 class, Rowan Scott placed fourteenth in the 165 class, Jose Melchor placed first in the 181 class, Wacey Canada placed second in the 181 Class, Sandoval placed third in the 181 class, Brayden Rodriguez placed sixth in the 198 class, Kanin Beavers placed fourth in the 242 class, Jacob Gallardo placed ninth in the 242 class.
Jacobi Esquivel and Julius Key bombed out, but will compete in the next meet, which will take place in Hawley on Feb. 8.
