Olney police rack up drug arrests in July

Olney police officers were busy with drug arrests in July with K9 Officer Bond, his handler Officer Miranda Wright, and other officers racking up 14 drug arrests - mainly after stopping drivers for traffic violations or for having outstanding warrants, Chief Dan Birbeck said. Some of the highlights of the OPD’s month of drug busts include: A 51-year-old man arrested on July 2 for possession of a controlled substance after he was pulled over for having an expired vehicle registration.

A 28-year-old man arrested for having less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for two counts of possesssion of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, as well as unlawfully carrying a weapon.

A 20-year-old woman caught with cigarettes and arrested for being a minor in possession of tobacco.

K9 Bond and Officer Wright rounded out the month with the arrests of a 44-year-old man who had drug paraphernalia and stolen driver’s licenses and credit cards when he was pulled over on July 26 and the July 31 arrest of a 29-year-old man with drugs and drug paraphernalia, the records show.
