Olney Police Officers Moore, Scroggins sworn in

The Olney City Council welcomed two new police officers to the ranks of the Olney Police Department at the Council’s June 24 meeting. Officers Preston Scroggins and Thomas Moore took the oath of office administered by Police Chief Dan Birbeck. Officer Moore comes to the OPD from the Graham Police Department, where he served in his first police job for six months before jumping to Olney.

Officer Moore grew up in Graham, and was attracted to the job in Olney because he knows a fair number of community members and looks forward to meeting more Olneyites.

In his free time, he enjoys fishing, hunting and teaching people to dance at the Lone Star and Outskirts dance halls and other venues in Wichita Falls.

“I am looking forward to meeting everybody in the community and get to know them on a personal level,” he said.

Officer Scroggins started at OPD on May 30. He grew up in Springtown and previously worked for the police departments in the City of Reno and in Pelican Bay. He is married with two children, ages 2 and 12.
