Olney, Newcastle municipalities set ballot application deadlines for May election

Applications for the upcoming Olney City Council, Olney Independent School District, Newcastle School Board and Newcastle City Council elections are now available at inside the Olney City Hall and Newcastle City Hall.

Applicants running for the three at-large Olney City Council seats will have just one week to finalize their application with the deadline set for 5 p.m. Friday, February 17. Councilmen Tommy Kimbro, Chuck Stennett and Mayor Pro Tem Jeff McClatchy. The school board seats include districts six and seven.

Newcastle residents may have a bit more time to make their decisions with the deadline set for Friday, Feb. 17. Those currently occupying the city council seats include: Gwen Dodson, Melba Quaid, Shelly Shields and Adrian Ontiveroz, who will run for re-election following his appointment in 2016.

Those looking to run for the school board seats will have to face current School Board President Bruce Bailey and Carly Short.

Olney City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Monday through Friday while Newcastle City Hall is open from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
