Olney Man Arrested in Assault on Woman
An Olney man was arrested earlier this month after police say he violently assaulted a woman at a residence on Hamilton Street, causing multiple broken bones in her face, Olney Interim Police Chief Autumn Thames said.
Leon Marcus, 35, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault causing bodily injury to a family member following the July 5 incident.
Officers responded to 302 W. Hamilton St. around 1 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing screaming coming from inside the home, Chief Thames said.
“People heard screaming and called 911,” she said. “He was bashing her face on the floor.”
Police said they had to deploy a Taser to subdue Mr. Marcus when they arrived at the scene.
The 27-year-old female victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Wichita Falls for treatment.
Chief Thames said the woman sustained multiple facial fractures in the attack.
Mr. Marcos was booked into the Young County Jail and has since been released.
As of press time, details regarding his bond and court appearance were not immediately available.
The case remains under investigation.
