Then... And Now

Olney Thomas Lunsford is shown above with his parents Chance and Dr. Lisa Lunsford. Olney was only seven months old (Top Left Photo) when he first appeared on the front page of Olney Enterprise--portraying four generations of Lunsfords.

“We chose to name our son Olney, because Olney is a sentimental place where I grew up. I spent a lot of time here, and I’ve always enjoyed this area. I also did it for my grandparents because I knew they would love it,” Chance said.

“We wanted to honor my father’s life and what he has done. It was a way to thank him for the great memories and the wonderful life he gave us,” said Chance’s father, Raymond.

Another way the couple honored both of their grandfathers was not only naming their child Olney in honor of the small town where Chance spent time with his grandfather Richard, but also naming him Thomas, in honor of Lisa’s grandfather.

Raymond along with his son, Chance and Chance’s wife, Dr. Lisa Lunsford, visited the Olney Heritage Museum Thursday, Oct.

24.  While perusing the exhibits, the Lunsfords discovered many of their family’s artifacts.

“It is a walk down memory lane,” Chance said. “The first time I came in here, I realized that there are a lot of things in the museum that I grew up around. That snow cone maker, the blanket and the movie theater seats, which were my grandfather’s. There are quite a few other items that I grew up with. So, it was fun to see those things.”

Lisa shared her thoughts about the museum. “OHM is a really sweet addition for the town; I am really impressed with what I’ve seen. It is well thought through, and I like that it has kid compatibility with so many people visiting that have children It’s really nice that the museum has something that children can be involved with and engaged in,” Lisa said.

Both Chance and Lisa have secured employment. Chance will be returning to the oil and gas industry working with his father Raymond at Guidance Oil Developers.

Dr. Lisa is a pediatric nurse practitioner with a doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP), and she will be working with Dr. Jeremy Johnson, Dr. Aaron Purdy along with five other nurse practitioners—Kari Bullard, Rachael Creel, Beverly Wills, Kelly Lee and Samantha Purdy at Graham Healthcare Clinic in Graham, Texas. Samantha said she and Lisa are the only healthcare providers certified specifically in pediatrics in Young, Archer and Throckmorton Counties.

Graham Healthcare is a primary care clinic that also provides urgent care services and offers individualized preventative care as well as chronic care management. Other services include dermatology, pediatrics, pain management and vascular. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays. Telemedicine services are available after hours. The Lunsfords’ employers have welcomed Chance and Lisa with open arms, and the Lunsfords are equally excited to return to the community. They said they are looking forward to getting to know the residents and their colleagues. And little Olney’s (O.T.) relocation is a step toward continuing the Lunsford legacy that the entire family is excited about.
