Olney just wants to have FUN

Olney is the place to be on Saturday, September 8. The day will be filled with family-oriented fun shows, games, and golf. There will be something for everyone, and it will be a day to remember.

The Amputee Dove Hunt starts with the golf tournament at Olney Country Club on Friday at 8 AM. The events will last until 6 p.m. with live entertainment. Join other dove hunt participants for breakfast at 6 a.m. at the Olney Civic Center. The activities will last until lunch at noon.

The automobilelover in the family can enjoy the annual car show sponsored by Olney Chamber of Commerce. The car show comprises a variety of cars spectators can view. The car owners will be close by, so you can ask questions. Perhaps they will allow you to take their car for a spin; Probably not, but a carlover can hope for such a thing. Don’t miss the car show awards will be announced at noon. Olney Heritage is hosting its Open House from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. According to the organization’s mission statement, “Olney Heritage Museum collects, preserves, and exhibits the rich history of Olney for the education and enjoyment for the present and future generations.”

Walk through time while viewing authentic treasures collected by longtime Olney residents.

The innovative children’s area captures the history of our region with hands-on learning experiences such as the milkable dairy cow. The newspaper gallery houses some of the original machinery used to produce the paper before modern technology. The Heidelberg Printing Press is on display along with other historical artifacts.

The event sponsors are providing laser tag and other games at no cost to the public; This is the sponsors’ “thankyou” to the community for your support throughout the year.

The Refuge will have lots of kid games such as Balloon Pop, Pingpong toss, and a bounce house to keep the kids engaged. Also, adult games will be available for parents to enjoy with the kids in view. Families can compete against other families and teams in corn hole or the pool tournament.

The day will close with live music at the Refuge. The Christian Community Band will perform an assortment of praise and worship songs and pause for testimonies and Bible trivia.

There is no need to pack a lunch. Hamburgers, hot dogs and lemonade will be for sale at the Refuge for $1.00 each. Other food vendors will be located throughout Olney.
