Olney Community Theatre Performs ‘A Christmas Carol’
On Dec. 11 and 12, the newly formed Olney Community Theatre performed A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play, by Joe Landry. Proceeds went to help support the Ministry of Helps Food Pantry.
The play was directed by Lori Cox, assisted by Obelea Rue and music by Kevin Conners. The scene was set in Studio One WBFR in New York, in the year 1946 on Christmas Eve. The play re-enacts a radio play of the same year, including commercials from the same era.
Live sound effects were performed by Hunter Simmons, Adelade Edgington, Katelynn Bailey and Sawyer Edgington. Costumers were Tracy Wales and Calli Simmons. Piano was played by Carol Glover and set design by Jan Tyler, Bill Tyler and Chayla Powers. The cast included Kent Wright, Chad Edgington, Spencer Key, Summer Branum, Jodee Wales, Melissa Edgington, Moriah Cavitt, Kendall Bailey, Katelynn Bailey, Adelade Edgington, Hunter Simmons, Sawyer Edgington, Emerald Edgington and Calli Simmons.
Director Lori Cox said she came up with the name for Olney’s newest theatre troupe and came up with the idea for the play while searching online, and thought it sounded like a fun play to perform. Cox says the troupe practiced for just under two months to put on the production. Cox said, “We had a good time, it’s a lot of fun and hope to put on more plays in the future.” For more information on future productions or how to get involved, please contact Lori Cox at the Olney Community Library and Art Center, 940-564-5513.
