Olney City Council Meeting Highlights
Olney City Council held a meeting Monday, Sept. 9 starting out with the presentation of Proclamation Declaring 2019 Constitution Week- Daughters of the American Revolution.
The Civic Center Maintenance was first up on the agenda, with “leaving a place better than you found it” being the main talking point after a weekend where the civic center hosted the Amputee Dove Hunt just a few days earlier. Next up on the agenda was consideration of the “Ordinance on Second Reading to Amend Animal Control Ordinances to allow the operation of an Animal Kennel” according to City Secretary Tim Houston, “an indoor training facility can be greater than 200 feet away from the city’s area of its own perimeters.We will leave this as written,”said Rue Rogers—who held the meeting with Phil Jeske absent from the meeting for personal reasons. Next, the council approved the ordinance 5-0.
An Ordinance on the first reading to institute curfew hours for minors was then discussed, with the decision being made for minors to be home by 10:30 p.m. on school nights and last until 6 a.m. the following day. On Friday and Saturday night, minors will get an hour longer with the curfew being set at 11:30 p.m until 6 a.m. the following day.
The City Council then approved an ordinance to amend certain utility fees as noted on the agenda along with the interlocal cooperation contract for the Failure to Appear program.
The council moved on to discus the routine airport maintenance program (RAMP) Grant Agreement and made a resolution approving the application for the Walmart Grant Agreement. The meeting clossed with monthly departmental reports before beginning the budget workshop.
