Olney Chamber of Commerce hosted Quarterly Luncheon

The June Quarterly Luncheon for the Olney Chamber of Commerce boasted strong attendance and a panel of speakers representing Olney Independent School District. There were 40 people from member businesses and individual members of the community to hear from guest speakers Jake Bailey, OISD board president; Olney Elementary School principal Gunter Rodriguez, and the new Junior High and High School principals Brianne Brock (OHS) and Ed Berngen (OJHS).

Chamber executive director Deidre Brown said she was initially concerned about turnout, given the summer holidays, but saw high interest in the panel right away. “It was great to see all of the RSVPs coming in and wonderful to sense so much enthusiasm from our school system’s leadership,” Brown said. “Bomber’s Burgers did a fantastic job getting our order together - the burgers were delicious! Everyone enjoyed hearing the latest updates on Olney schools and being able to meet the new principals.

The event space worked out perfectly as well. All-around a successful event!”

The next Chamber luncheon will take place in the fall. Those interested in joining the Chamber and attending Chamber events can purchase memberships for as low as $50 for an individual or couple. Also, event sponsorships through the Chamber are great exposure for businesses in the area and a wonderful way to get involved in the community. The next big event for the Chamber is the Old-Fashioned 4th of July Parade (5pm starting at N. Ave. B) and Olney in America - there will be a fun concert, food trucks, vendors, bounce houses for kids and fireworks to conclude the event. This all happens on Thursday, June 30th from 6pm-10pm at the Olney Country Club.
