Olney Chamber’s Annual Car Show, Sept. 11

The Olney Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual car show Sept. 11 in Downtown Olney. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the cost is $25. The proceeds generated allow the Chamber to reinvest into various community programs and events.

The Chamber decided to change the name from “Show and Shine Car Show” to “Olney in America Car Show,” consistent with the theme from the Independence Day celebration this past July. Regardless of the name change, you will witness an equally fun show.

The judging will begin at 9 a.m., and the judges will announce the winners at 1 p.m. The first-place prize is $250. The second-place prize is $150, and the third place winner will receive $75. The judges will select five cars for the “Best in Show” category. Typically, the organizers classify the vehicles into the following categories: Class A (Cars Modified Pre 1900-1949), Class B (Cars Modified 50s), Class C (Cars Modified 60s), Class E (Cars Modified 80s), Class F (90s Newer Cars), Class G (Hotrods/Pro-Streets), Class H (Under construction Cars & Trucks), Class J (Truck Modified 50s), Class K (Truck Modified 60s), Class N (90s Newer Trunks), Class O (All Original Cars), *Class O (All Original Truck), Class P (Special Interest), Class Q (Tractors), Class R (Motor Cycles), Class T (Miscellaneous): (Ratrod), Class U (60’s-70s’ Muscle Cars), and People’s Choice. With this diverse group, you are sure to find the perfect category for your automobile.

There will be plenty to do while waiting for the results. You may entertain your children with the kids cruise, purchase delicious treats and products from vendors, and enjoy open mic entertainment. And for $5, you can check out the Cub Zone.

The 2021 Olney in America Car Show is sponsored by Stewarts, Food Store, First Baptist Church of Olney, Goldsmith’s NAPA Auto Supply Store and Olney Auto Truck and Tire. The Olney Chamber of Commerce board of directors has been fully engaged in the organization of this event. The board is comprised of President Anna Rogers, vice president Tammy Montgomery, vice president of Finance Lyndsey Miller, Secretary Chad Edgington, Sammy Livingston, Will Dinwiddie, Jason Pack, Tatum Wiley and Dan Branum.
