Olney’s youth participate in Graham Regional Theatre’s summer camp

Every year the Graham Regional Theatre (GRT) hosts a summer camp for the youth in Young County and the surrounding areas. The GRT summer camp not only gives the children something fun to do, but it also helps build their skills as future actors and actresses.

Katie Huitt said, “This is Graham Regional Theatre’s fourth annual children’s camp and we will premier Alice In Wonderland Jr. this Friday night after a full week of rehearsals. We have more than 40 students involved; from second-graders to recently graduated high-schoolers. Campers learn all stages of production, including choreography, staging, acting techniques, costuming, prop-building and many more elements.”

The students prepare and rehearse in the small space known as The Perry theatre located in the downtown square. However, the actual performance will take place in the historic Graham Memorial Auditorium.”

“We are very proud of our production value. Every year after our children’s camp shows are finished, everyone is quite surprised that these young theatre children can put on such a great show with only a five-day rehearsal schedule,” said Huitt.
