OJH TMSCA Wins State

Olney Junior High TMSCA team ventured to San Antonio to compete in the State Championship meet hosted by the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association. After a muggy day at SeaWorld filled with educational programs showcasing marine animals and amusement park rides, students were guided through a last minute study session to prepare for their big contest.

The morning of Saturday March 29, twenty-seven OJH students joined hundreds of middle school students from across the state on the campus of the University of Texas San Antonio. These students had previously qualified for the opportunity to assess their knowledge and skills in Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics and Science.

OJH brought home the gold, winning the Sweepstakes competition over 17 other 1A & 2A schools represented. Team honors include 2nd place Number Sense, 1st Place Calculator Applications, 1st place Mathematics and

1st place Science.
