OJH Takes ‘The Happy Scarecrow’ to Stage
The Olney Junior High’s One Act Play is called “The Happy Scarecrow.”
In November, the OJH cast will have two public performances and a district meet. The public performances are on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. and on Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
“We are very proud of the work the students have been doing. Mr. Cuba and I have a great group!” Lauren Sullivan, director, said The play is about a scarecrow trying to find happiness. The scarecrow meets several characters throughout the play who each have different ideas about what makes them happy, but none of them can be shared to make the scarecrow happy.
In the end, the scarecrow just needed sacrificial love to help them understand. The cast members are: Denalee Wales as the scarecrow, Jessa Branum as the fairy, Magnolia Caffey as the witch, Jacob Horner as the man in the audience, Janessa Berngen as a little girl, Sergio Rodriguez as the old man, Brennan Horner as a skunk, Chloe McPhie as the jester, Braxton Wales as the scarehuman, Matthew Bullock as the king, Palmer Hargis as the princess, Carleigh Symank as chorus, as well as Gretchen Symank and Aiden McPhie as alternates.
The crew members are: Harper Watson as the stage director, Aizlynn Tarr as the props manager, Paxton Pittman in control of costumes, Denis Geter in control of the sound, and Caroline Jeske in control of the lights.
