OISD Celebrates Homecoming Week

Homecoming week has come and gone for the Olney Independent School District, and this year’s celebration was one for the books.

Festivities kicked off with a parade down Main Street, where students, athletes, and community groups rolled through in decorated floats, waving to cheering crowds. The air was electric with school pride, setting the stage for the spirit-filled days ahead.

That evening, the community gathered around a blazing bonfire, a tradition that lights up the Olney sky each fall. The Pride of Olney High School Marching Band kept spirits soaring with familiar fight songs and crowd favorites, while the OHS cheerleaders led chants and dance routines that had everyone on their feet.

The highlight of the night came when Sawyer Edgington was crowned HOCO Hunk, drawing a roar from the large crowd. Edgington earned the honor from a strong field of nominees that included Juan Castillo, Peyton Bedford, and Karter Bowers.

As the flames rose, OHS seniors carried on the time-honored tradition of lighting the bonfire, marking the apex of an unforgettable evening.

This year’s Homecoming week was a perfect blend of tradition, community pride, and Cub spirit—one that students, families, and alumni will remember long after the fire’s last embers faded.
