OISD board approves adding $6 million bond to May ballot
During a recent Olney ISD School Board meeting, the board discussed the issuance of $6,000,000 million in bonds by the district for the construction, acquisition and equipment of recreational facilities in the district consisting of baseball and softball fields and facilities levying the tax in payment thereof, resulting in a property tax increase. The vote came back 6-0 for putting the bond proposal on the May 7 School Board Elections.
The following also had a 6-0 vote succeed for the May 7 election; “Motion to order Olney ISD trustee election Saturday, May 7, 2022. The three-year terms of Places 3, 4 and 5 will expire. Currently, these positioned are filled by Jake Bailey, Jeff Harvey and Len Bernhardt. The first day to file to be on the ballot was Jan. 19, 2022, and the last day to file is Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at 5 p.m.
For the May election, the first day of early voting by personal appearance is Monday, April 25. The last day of early voting by personal appearance is Tuesday, May 3.
During a recent Olney City Hall meeting, the council approved to enter into an agreement with Olney ISD to use the land the ball fields are on.
Additional details about the Olney ISD baseball and softball fields will be available after the bond election in May.
