OHS Blood Drives Earn First Carter BloodCare Grant

For the first time, Olney High School received a grant from Carter BloodCare. Throughout the 2025-26 school year, three blood drives were planned, gathering 125 units of blood. The third drive was, unfortunately, cancelled due to winter weather.

“The students at Olney High School earned a $500 grant, their first time ever, earning a grant from Carter BloodCare,” said Efrain Frias Jr. with Carter BloodCare. “I’m confident that with their hard work and community support, they can reach the $1,000 goal this school year.”

To reach the goal of $1,000, OHS has plans to hold three blood drives this year. Two will be held on campus and the other at the Civic Center. Frias encourages donations to help the students reach their goal.

“I encourage the community to help save lives through blood donation and help the students reach their $1,000 goal!”

A blood drive will be held on Nov. 4 and will be open to the public and students aged 16 and older to donate.

More information is to come.
