OEDC Nominates 4 Board Members for 2026-7

The Olney Economic Development Corp. voted May 15 to recommend four board members for appointment by the Olney City Council, including one newcomer to replace outgoing member Debbie Shelley.

Current members Johnny Moore, Tammy, and Clancy Myers were nominated for reappointment, while Kyle Hinson was selected to fill the open position created by Shelley’s departure from the board.

The board considered two potential candidates for the open seat — Hinson and Rand Kemp — before selecting Hinson during a paper-ballot vote.

“Kyle Hinson and Rand Kemp. Great people. Both excellent,” Executive Director Tom Parker said before the vote.

Parker explained the board’s role is advisory and that final appointments will be made by the Olney City Council.

“We’re not really electing them,” Parker said. “We’re recommending them. That’s our nomination to the council.”

The board later approved a formal motion recommending Moore, Myers, Tammy and Hinson to the council for appointment.

Earlier in the meeting, the board also approved updated bylaws designed to bring the organization into compliance with recent state legislative changes and clarify board term procedures.

Among the changes was clarification that the shortened initial staggered terms assigned when the board was first organized do not count as full terms unless specifically stated in the bylaws.

Board President Johnny Moore noted the organization also plans to return to annual officer elections beginning in June, as required under the bylaws.
