OCLAC’s summer of fun continued with Tales and Tails
On June 15, the Olney Community Library and Arts Center (OCLAC) continued its summer of fun events at the library with a visit from the Dallas Puppet Theater (DPT).
Pix Smith with DPT was on hand to perform and entertain the children of Olney and surrounding area with his enchanted marionette puppets. Smith said this is the 37th season for the puppet theater, doing a lot of shows for schools and libraries. Smith said the shows are variety and story-based, with some shows having a cast of up to 12 or more puppeteers.
The show at the OCLAC was considered a variety show. Smith said, “We maintain (DPT) one of the largest puppetry collections in the United States.” Smith performs a variety act when visiting most schools and libraries because it engages both the kids and the adults. Smith was present to also help bring attention to the summer reading program.
