New Shopping Center in Olney

New Shopping Center in Olney Early Spring

Many have seen the new construction in Olney near Stewart’s Grocery Store and have been wondering what is coming to Olney. After speaking with Donald Cabler, building superintendent for the construction site, the community of Olney can expect a combination Dollar Tree and Family Dollar.

Cabler who is overseeing the construction of the new store, for G2K Developer Partners, said the construction is estimated to be finished around mid-March.

“After construction is complete, which generally takes about three months, the building will be handed over to Dollar Tree and from there it generally takes five to six weeks for Dollar Tree to have a new store ready to open,” Cabler said.

According to Dollartreeinfo.com, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are “Two great brands delivering value and convenience through complimentary businesses. Dollar Tree, Inc. is a leading operator of discount variety stores that has served North America for more than thirty years. The company operates more than 15,500 stores across the 48 contiguous states and five Canadian provinces, supported by a coast-to-coast logistics network and more than 193,000 associates.”

Here’s what some residents of Olney said regarding the new stores:

Beka Emmons said, “I am excited about the combination of both stores. It brings more business and job opportunities. I’m sure our community will keep the business going.”

Bobbi Stephens said, “We’re excited, but in the same sense, it feels like our little town is becoming more franchised-owned and the family-owned smalltown feeling is getting away fom us.”

Brandy Mayes-Leone said, “We’re excited to get a new store in town. We’ve lived here for three years and the growth of Olney is exciting to us. As long as we keep that smalltown feel, then the growth will be exciting to us all.”
