My Deepest Desire
“Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:25-26 NASBS
Beloved in Christ, what a profound blessing it is to walk through life each day, knowing that God is with us. We will undoubtedly encounter moments of uncertainty and trials; however, these challenges serve to strengthen our faith as we lean on the mighty arm of our God, trusting in the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Psalmist beautifully conveys a powerful truth: despite the difficulties we face, God remains a steadfast source of strength and comfort. When chaos surrounds us and our hearts and bodies may falter, we can find refuge in the certainty that God is unchanging and unwavering. His steadfast love will never forsake us, as stated in the Bible, “But you are the same, and your years will have no end.”
May His grace shield us from the distractions of this world. If we are not vigilant, they can draw our hearts away from heavenly pursuits. God has blessed us with many joys in this life, and these gifts are not meant to divert us but to lead us to a deeper sense of worship and gratitude towards Him.
As we reflect on our lives, let the thankfulness of our hearts be lifted up in praise, as we bend our knees in holy prayer to this great King Who loves us with an everlasting love. Let us never forget that this love is made manifest through the gospel of Jesus Christ, Who redeemed us from the corruption within.
As we prepare our hearts through the meditations of the Bible each morning, let us never forget that we are presented with countless opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with hurting and lost people each day.
What a high calling it is for each of us to be ambassadors of truth, bringing the message of hope to those who are suffering. It’s vital to remember that if God can rescue us from the darkness of this age and lead us to the cross of Jesus Christ for salvation, He can save anyone. We must never forget the same sinful passions that once raged within us in our lost estate, are now destroying those who are bound under the reign of sin and enslaved to inordinate passions.
Understand Christian, what may often appear impossible as we observe the impact of sin in the lives of these individuals is never without hope. The power of the Gospel is capable of reaching deep into the darkest corners of a hardened heart, bringing salvation even to the chief of sinners, as the Apostle Paul shares in his own testimony.
Today, I encourage you, as I encourage myself, to commit to prayer, earnestly pleading with the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob to open the hearts of those who are blind to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
May we serve as instruments in His hands, leading many of them to gaze upon the cross and see the bleeding Savior, Jesus Christ, Who died in the place of all who come to Him in faith and repentance.
Reflecting upon these truths, remember that you are not alone in your struggles. God is with you; He is your strength and hope. Embrace the reality of your relationship with Jesus, for it is your greatest treasure, as written in the Scriptures, “Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
It is then that the peace which surpasses all understanding will comfort your soul in whatever circumstance that you may be facing. Trust in His faithfulness today and every day, knowing that He is the anchor for your soul and can use you as a mighty weapon against the wickedness of this age, leading many to the light found only in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
