Mockingbird Rd closed for 2 weeks
Young County Precinct 3 road crews will be doing maintenance on the north end of Mockingbird Road starting the week of Aug. 19, weather permitting, Commissioner Stacey Rogers said.
The crew will erect barricades for the entire period of road construction, Mr. Rogers said.
Through traffic will be stopped but arrangements for residents to come and go must be approved in advance, he said.
The crew will replace the culvert pipe beneath the road with a larger and longer pipe in the area near the old Head Start building toward Southside Baptist Church, with the goal of reducing flooding, he said.
The crew then will resurface the road, he said.
This maintenance will require the closing of the road for approximately two weeks, Mr. Rogers said.
Mr. Rogers asked for residents’ understanding and cooperation during this project and pointed out that the temporary inconvenience will result in a new driving surface.
