A message from HD-68 Candidate David Spiller
All,
As you know, I am running for the seat for House District 68. The election was held on January 23rd, and I received 44% of the vote in a 5-person race. However, since I was not able to get over 50% of the vote, there will be a runoff. The Governor has just scheduled the runoff election date for Tuesday, February 23rd, and early voting to begin on Tuesday, February 16th. My opponent received 18% of the vote, but the third place finisher, John Berry, who received 17% of the vote, and the fourth place finisher, Jason Brinkley, who received 16% of the vote, have joined Former Governor Rick Perry in endorsing me. However, I can’t assume anything, I will continue to work hard, and it will be extremely important for everyone to vote in the runoff election.
I am the only candidate that has campaigned, visited and held meetings in each of the 22 counties of House District 68. I believe that it is very important to personally meet with – and hear from – everyone I can in every county, and is symbolic of the type of representation that HD 68 will get from me. I will be responsive and accessible. I am planning another trip to the northern counties of the western part of HD 68 on Wednesday, February 10th. I plan on meeting on the steps outside the Courthouse at each location, unless a different location is determined prior to my visit.
For those that may not have met me (and for those that have some time to visit again) I would like to have the opportunity to introduce myself, tell you about my background and qualifications, tell you what I stand for, and listen to your concerns. I want to be your State Representative and want to be responsive to your needs and concerns. Unfortunately, due to the extremely short time before the election, I can’t visit long. I plan to only be at each location for thirty (30) minutes for this visit, and will need to leave after that to travel to another county. I also plan on having another series of Zoom meetings between now and the runoff election day. I will send Zoom invitations prior to those meetings.
I anticipate that the scheduled stops that I have for Wednesday, February 10th, will be as follows:
8:15 Memphis
9:30 Wellington
11:00 Wheeler
12:00 Shamrock (Lunch Meeting)
2:00 Childress
3:15 Quanah
4:30 Vernon
6:30 Paducah
7:45 Guthrie

It would be great if you could have everyone you know like and share my Facebook page. It’s David Spiller for Texas House. Thanks.
I know it’s short notice and everybody has a lot going on, but I hope to be able to visit with as many people as I can. I’m looking forward to it. Please pass this information on to everyone you can in your community. Thank you.
