Local Singer Releases Single

Local Olney resident, Jon Hope - Country Western singer recently released his new single titled “Country Livin’.” Hope moved to Olney approximately five years ago with his wife and son and says he really loves the area.

Hope’s style of country music is more old school and not anything like the pop country you hear frequently; his mature classic country voice is comparable to country singers like Randy Travis and George Strait.

Hope says his grandmother was very artistic and he credits her with starting him down the path as a singer/songwriter. Hope was good at memorizing Bible verses as taught by his grandmother, which she thought it would be a good way to memorize song. Growing up, Hope enjoyed singing serious Country Western songs. When he performs cover songs he chooses songs he can get behind and not just sing popular songs.

Hope received his first guitar when he was 15 years old. Seeing a need for a guitarist at the church, he convinced his mom to buy a guitar, which he had for a long time.

Hope considers himself more of a singer/songwriter than a guitarist. When asked about his classic country voice, he says it matured as he got closer to his mid-thirties.
