HOWF Offers Tour of New Center

On July 13, Hospice of Wichita Falls (HOWF) officially opened the bereavement and meeting center. The new wing of the facility will be used for many purposes, and includes two large meeting rooms, a grief support room, along with several other areas to help accommodate the grief programs and a grief support wall to greet visitors.

Alisa Echols, CEO of HOWF, greeted guests for the media day and gave a brief description of the new facility. Echols said, “We are just so excited for you all to be here, into show off this new facility to people,” before being handed off to Director of Development and Facilities Jake Truette, who would host a tour of the new wings.

Truette said the Legacy Hall is a multifunctional space used in the facilities, with a meeting room on the other side of the Legacy Wall. The hallway of the Legacy Hall serves as an entry point for the main lobby, with an additional reception area and a fully stocked kitchen to host events on site. Truette said of the new kitchen and meeting rooms, “We’ve never been able to do so in the past (host events), where we’ve had to go and rent space or seek space that was donated, we’re now able to host events on site.”

Other rooms that are part of the new facilities were classrooms with the latest technology, small tables and chairs to accommodate children and even skylights built into the room to help conserve electricity.

Truette closed the tour by stating, “With the new facilities now ready for use HOWF, we can turn around immediately and begin offering those programs and services free of charge to the community and the sky’s the limit as far as what we’ll be able to offer in the future.”
