HOWF’s 36th Annual Tree of Lights Campaign
Again, it’s that time of year for the Hospice of Wichita Falls (HOWF) Tree of Lights campaign. The official launch date for the 36th annual campaign is Tuesday, Nov. 23. The tree lighting will be publicized live during the 6 p.m. weathercast on KFDX TV-3 and KAUZ TV-6. The tree is located on top of the Southwest Building on Kemp Boulevard in Wichita Falls.
While the tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season, the star will remain unlit until HOWF reaches its $275,000 fundraising goal. If HOWF meets the fundraising goal, they will light the star during the 6 p.m. newscasts on Dec.17.
You have an opportunity to help HOWF light the star this year in honor of or memory of a particular person in your life. HOWF staff, board and volunteers state the tree-lighting ceremony is a “sentimental favorite,” and they hope that this tradition will “hold a special place in your heart.”
You have three options for making a tax-deductible donation in accordance with current IRS tax regulations.
You may either call Hospice of Wichita Falls at 940.691.0982, visit the center in person at 4909 Johnson Road in Wichita Falls, or make a donation online.
HOWF will accept donations made by cash, check, or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express). Upon receipt of your donation, HOWF will send an acknowledgment card to the person you’re honoring with your donation to let them know about your gift. They will not disclose the amount of the contribution.
According to HOWF, all donations received through the tree-lighting campaign will help provide care, education, resources support and “sometimes simply a hand to hold, to those who are facing life-threatening illnesses.”
“For the past 36 years, Hospice of Wichita Falls has been the only nonprofit, free-standing hospice in the area providing exceptional service night and day.
We are blessed by community members whose continued support assists us in fulfilling our mission of Care, Hope and Support for All When Illness Threatens Life by providing us with the ability to never deny services to anyone needing hospice care due to lack of insurance or financial resources.”
