House of Mercy Gala May 10

The House of Mercy (H.O.M.E.) Gala will be held Friday, May 10, at the Refuge located at 1418 W. Elm St. in Olney. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and includes dinner and a silent auction. There is no cost to attend, but guests should RSVP by calling 940-564-3339.

H.O.M.E. will cater the event. The menu comprises brisket and smoked turkey, roasted potatoes and potato salad, green beans and B.B.Q. beans, peach and blueberry cobbler. There is no cost for dinner, however, there will be opportunities to make donations

The silent auction includes a plethora of donated items such as a rifle, gift baskets and gift certificates among other things.

This gala gives the H.O.M.E. leadership team a platform to explain the services they offer through the Christian Human Development Program. Trena Crow, the office manager, said they believe the Bible can help with any issue anyone has. “Our program targets the sin that causes inappropriate behavior such as addiction,” she said.

Executive Director Preston Crow said, “It is about dying to the flesh and coming to life through the Spirit. The problem we target is sin. Everything else that people think are problems is a symptom of sin.”

The funds raised will be used to help with the sustainability of various facets of the H.O.M.E. Christian Development Program. Currently, they have 32 residents with a capacity up to 50 residents. While participating in the program, residents have an opportunity to learn how to reintegrate themselves into society and return to the workforce to build a better life. If you are interested in learning more, consider attending the event May 10. RSVP 940-564-3339.
