GRT’s Murder Mystery Fundraiser was a Crowd-pleaser

The Graham Regional Theatre (GRT) held its annual murder mystery fundraiser at Brother’s Restaurant in Graham Monday, Feb. 14. The play was titled Jazz, Gin and Murder, which comprised a colorful cast of characters that seemed to have piqued the guests’ curiosity during the entire show.

The main character, Sal Sapone, played by GRT Executive Director Christian Sanders, was a crime boss caught up in a rivalry with another crime boss, Dean O’Donnell, played by Evan Faris. Sapone and O’Donnell argue throughout the evening until Sapone is murdered. The guests work together to determine who killed Sapone while enjoying a delicious steak dinner and cocktails. The entire cast interacted with the guests throughout the evening and dropped clues to assist with solving the murder mystery. In addition to Sal and Dean’s characters, other cast members included Cali Rose as Angeline Shaker, Katie Huitt as Charlene Chaplin, Charles Huitt as Gabe Deluth, Kay Berru as Cocoa Shaneal and Hannah Bell as Sylvia Dali.

GRT produced this event to raise funds, but if you were not able to attend, you could still support the mission of this nonprofit community theater by purchasing tickets for their plays. Visit www.GrahamRegionalTheatre.com to learn more about upcoming productions. This is a worthy endeavor to support as some community members from Olney and surrounding communities participate in their productions.

The most recent play is John Burkhart’s “B Mine Forever…or I Get the Mine and You Get the Shaft,” Feb. 25 through March 6. Showtime begins at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays at The Perry Theatre located at 521 Elm Street in Graham.
